The Humane Fair is Almost Here – Buy Your Tickets Now

The SASHA Farm Humane Fair is right around the corner – so mark your calendars for Sunday July 22 from 12 – 4 pm and get ready for a day to remember. You might ask, “What’s this Humane Fair all about?”  Well, there will be lots to learn and to do on this beautiful summer day! For example, get to know all of the 250 animal residents like Eve the potbellied pig (top picture) and Moo and Jefferson (immediately above), and make friends with the new animals who have recently joined us such as Molly and Elsa the pygmy goats, Rosie the donkey, and Debbie the mule. They’re all eagerly awaiting your visit!! And, you’ll be amazed at how much the Jersey Five have grown, and you’ll delight in Daisy Belle as she skips across the pastures with joy! Take a guided tour and hear the animals’ rescue stories and how each one is so very special and much loved at SASHA Farm.

Check out the animal advocacy groups who will be tabling that day and learn more about the following non-profit organizations:

Attorneys for Animals, Animals & Society Institute, All Species Kinship, Bird Center of Washtenaw CountyWindsor Detroit Farm Animal Save, VegMichigan, Northwest Ohio Vegan Advocates, S.M.A.R.T. (Southeastern Michigan Animal Rights Team) and Run Woodstock-Charles Leister.

And no worries about going away hungry. Not a chance!! To top the afternoon off, included in your ticket price is a scrumptious vegan buffet lunch, served by The Moveable Feast Catering. If you are looking for some delicious vegan sweets before or after your lunch, visit our Bake Sale, and please consider donating items if you love to bake. We will be selling SASHA Farm merchandise, including a brand new Bhima shirt, Daisy Belle baseball T’s and hoodies,  and new note card designs hot off the presses!

This year there will be a special presentation delivered by the Humane Cowboy (SASHA’s Brece Clark!).  Brece is a former professional horse trainer and event rider, but has taken a platform against many horse training methods, and will speak about this and the ethics of riding horses at 1:00 pm. There will also be a demonstration by the local chapter of Anonymous for the Voiceless.

If anyone in your group needs assistance, please contact us at and we will do our very best to accommodate you! And, if you love to take pictures, feel free to do so, but we do ask that professional photographers, videographers, and artists working in other visual mediums understand and agree to follow our photo policy by contacting us at if you wish to use SASHA Farm photographs for commercial or other ventures. Our Photo Policy is available under the Events tab on our website (scroll to the end of the section), and paper copies will be available at the Humane Fair Registration Desk.

Charles Leister 100 Mile Run for the Animals of SASHA Farm

Charles will be running 100 miles for the animals who reside at SASHA Farm on September 7th at Run Woodstock in Pinckney, Michigan. Stop by Charles’ table at our Humane Fair on July 22 and give him your support !!  Here is his latest update on his training:

“The training continues to go well. Last week I ran a 50K race on the rugged and remote North Country Trail in the Upper Penisula. I finished the race in a little over 6 hours and felt good overall despite the tough trails. I am still working on getting in shape to run 100 miles, but I don’t know if you ever really get 100% prepared physically for that type of distance. It is still a long way to go, but I continue to run with the purpose of helping the animal residents at SASHA receive the care that they so greatly deserve. Thanks for the support and I will provide further updates after my 50 mile run coming up at the end of July. Hoping for, but not expecting, cooler temperatures for the 50 miler.”

Please support Charles AND the SASHA Farm residents by donating HERE to help him meet his goals. THANK YOU!
