The Philly 128 flock came to us back in 2018. These Cornish Cross chickens, or broiler chickens, were born along with thousands of others on a backyard meat farm in Philadelphia. Once the breeder realized he was unable to manage such a large number of birds, the PSPCA stepped in to help him find homes for the majority of his flock. Luckily, SASHA Farm was able to make the trip to a parking lot in PA to rescue 128 of his hens and roosters. This breed is meant to grow very large very quickly, so we knew the medical issues would significantly shorten their lives. However, they deserved to be loved and given quality of life. We are pleased to say that we still have a few hens from the Philly 128 group that turned 4 years old this year!
